RECENT NEWS: Michael has been nominated for a Drama Desk Award for his orchestrations of Ahrens & Flaherty's "The Glorious Ones". Unfortunately, the show is no longer running, but the cast CD should be out soon on Jay Records.
Michael and Mary Testa will be performing the piece they are developing, "Sleepless Variations", this summer at the Barrington Stage Company. July 31-August 3rd. In September he will doing a workshop on Martha's Vineyard of a new piece. Next fall he will working on a new production of "Next to Normal" (see below) and the new musical "Leap of Faith".
Michael has had a lot of recent shows that you missed this year. "How the Grinch Stole Christmas" closed in early January (but will reappear next winter, we hope). Ahren's & Flaherty's "The Glorious Ones" closed at Lincoln Center, but will be out soon on CD. And after running for a number of years, "The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee" has closed on Broadway. But the national tour, is still touring in many cities. And Tom Kitt and Brian Yorkey's "Next to Normal" finished up at Second Stage - but will be part of the Arena Stage's season this fall, and hopefully will return to Broadway after that.
